Manning has served as the Chair of the New York March for Babies for the past seven years

In early 2013, Olsen and his wife Kara founded the HEARTest Yard Fund after a routine examination of their unborn son, T.J., revealed the infant had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a congenital defect marked by an underdeveloped left ventricle and aorta. The HEARTest Yard Fund is a family service program administered in conjunction with Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. Since it’s inception, the fund has distributed nearly $1.25 million to support families’ of babies affected by congenital heart disease.

Olsen is one of the Panthers’ best receivers. A four-time team captain and three-time Pro Bowler, Olsen ranks in the top 10 all-time among NFL tight ends in receptions (622) and receiving yards (7,365) and is approaching the top 10 in receiving touchdowns (52).

Fitzgerald’s foundation, The Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund, has provided grants of more than $1 million to promote reading and technology access for students K-12 and to support efforts to prevent and cure breast cancer and support breast cancer survivors. Fitzgerald has also teamed with national and international charities to serve as a volunteer to promote vision care for children, to fit people around the world with hearing aids and to visit countries in Africa to promote economic development.

Since being drafted by the Cardinals third overall in the 2004 NFL Draft, Fitzgerald leads the NFL in receptions (1,125) and receiving yards (14,389) and has 104 career touchdowns.

A father of three daughters, Manning has served as the Chair of the New York March for Babies for the past seven years, helping raise over $25 million. Manning also spearheads Tackle Kids’ Cancer, an initiative with Hackensack University Medical Center. Prior to kicking off an extensive media campaign to raise awareness of this cause, Manning spent time with patients and doctors at the hospital’s pediatric cancer center, learning more about the greatest needs in cancer research.avalanche_186

Pete Carroll: Richard Sherman played with unreported knee injury

Pete Carroll said Richard Sherman has some regrets about this season. But the Seahawks coach also provided an interesting revelation about the Pro Bowl cornerback.

Carroll said Monday that Sherman played the second half of the season with an MCL injury that was never included in the Seahawks’ official injury reports. Not reporting the injury would be a violation of the NFL’s policies.

Mickey Mantle Mens Jersey Honestly, I didn’t realize we hadn’t revealed it, Carroll told reporters Monday. I don’t even remember what game it was, it was somewhere in the middle… I don’t know.

I’m feeling like I screwed that up with not telling you that because that happened, but he was OK.

According to The Post, the proposal regarding recreational use of marijuana is running parallel to an NFLPA committee’s separate study of marijuana use as a form of pain management and whether it should be permitted under the NFL’s drug policy.

Yet a complicating factor is that, coming out of November’s elections, seven states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana and more than two dozen others have approved the use of medical marijuana.

Kids Marcedes Lewis Jersey The NFLPA committee studying marijuana as a pain-management tool, which actually is a subcommittee of its traumatic brain injury committee, will be looking at the issue through the spring, The Post reported.

Unfortunately for Lions faithful, the drought is expected to continue after Saturday nights game in Seattle.

The Seahawks are not only a better team on paper. They enjoy a distinct home-field advantage with a 7-1 record this season and nine consecutive playoff wins at CenturyLink Field, which is the third-longest streak in NFL history. The stadium is so loud that seismologists are installing portable sensors to monitor ground vibrations a la the 2011 Beast Quakeas part of earthquake preparedness testing.

Drafted right after Ken Griffey Jr. in 1987, Mark Merchant never played a day in the majors

Authentic Kids Christine Michael Sr Jersey Mark Merchant doesn’t like to talk about his professional baseball career. As he sees it, doing so eventually means defending himself against comparisons with a Hall of Fame player.

Joel Ward Authentic Jersey Yeah, I can. It was a couple weeks ago. Our crew broadcasted the Seattle-Atlanta playoff game and somewhere in that week after, [Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator] Kyle [Shanahan] and I caught up as we often do after a game that I broadcast of his and just told him how impressed I was and at that time I know that he was interviewing for a lot of jobs and we just started a conversation and at some point I indicated to him that, Hey, you know Kyle three or four years ago I had conversations with the Denver Broncos about getting into management. In the recent months I’ve had a couple situations that arose with perspective owners and I’ve sat down with them and kind of shared my philosophies. I think I’ve always managed to, [Pittsburgh Steelers head coach] Mike Tomlin, who coached me, used to say be where you’re at. So, my focus was being the best broadcaster I could be, but there was a side of me that said, You know, some day.

[Denver Broncos general manager] John Elway is one of my good friends and I watched him. I was living in Denver when he went through that process. He was kind enough to invite me into the building for offseason meetings and such. That’s kind of been out there and I always said, I even said to my bosses at FOX if the right situation arose that it would be something that I would have to consider. Like I said, Kyle and I were in a conversation, he seemed to get excited, at that point he turned it over to Jed and [49ers chief strategy offices and executive vice president of football operations] Paraag [Marathe] and the rest moved fairly quickly.

49ers interested in Jimmy Garoppolo? Kyle Shanahan is a fan

Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan could be going from Super Bowl opponents to leading the 49ers together next season.

The Patriots are looking to get a first-round pick and more for Tom Brady’s understudy and are hoping quarterback-needy teams lineup for a bidding war over the 25-year-old Garoppolo this offseason.

Tynes was one of at least three Buccaneers players to contract a MRSA infection in 2013. Former Pro Bowl guard Carl Nicks was another, and the Bucs reached a $3 million settlement with Nicks in 2014 to end his lawsuit. Terms of Tynes’ financial settlement with the Bucs were not disclosed.

White and Mitchell join cornerback Malcolm Mitchell and former receiver Deion Branch as unexpected Super Bowl heroes for the Patriots.

White, a third-year player from Wisconsin, set a Super Bowl record with 14 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 29 yards on six carries and scored twice on the ground, including the game-winner in overtime.

Goodell said San Diego’s stadium issue wasn’t new and has been a problem over the last 15 years.

“Everyone recognized a new stadium was needed,” he said.

Try very hard to remember this for the next six years, though (or five or four, depending on whether he lasts his entire initial contract, in light of who did the hiring):

As hideous as that was in the brightest spotlight of his coordinator career, the mismanagement of that 25-point lead won’t define Shanahan’s head-coaching career. It doesn’t define his coordinator career, for that matter.

Colin Kaepernick reportedly will opt out of 49ers contract to become free agent

It appears Colin Kaepernick has played his last game for the 49ers.

ESPN reported Friday that the 29-year-old quarterback will opt out of his contract to test free agency. He can’t make it official until the March 2-7 opt-out period.
D.J. Hayden Youth Jersey
The news certainly comes as no surprise. Kaepernick had openly asked for a trade after being benched in 2015. He and the 49ers had revised his existing contract last October, allowing either side to terminate the deal for the remaining year in 2017. He is scheduled to make $14.5 million in base salary next year.

Game Kids Lamarr Houston Jersey Ultimately we have to be prepared to win a game and we’re not going to get prepared on the bus ride over to the stadium on Sunday, Brady said Wednesday. Our families get here (Thursday), so (Wednesday) is an important night to get rest, preparation, anything we need to do to try to put in the bank.

We know the challenge that’s ahead of us and it’s only going to get more hectic and we get closer to the game.

Brady said he won’t let outside distractions get in the way, even as he gets asked on a daily basis about a potential encounter with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the wake of the Deflategate scandal that cost Brady the first four games of the 2016 NFL season.

I’m just focused on football, Brady told reporters Wednesday, repeating his answers when asked Monday and Tuesday.

It’s part of the routine this week, just as Brady’s grown accustomed during his previous six Super Bowl preparations.

MLB trade rumors 2017: Five impact players who could be dealt in June

A handful of big names could wind up getting dealt before the annual non-waiver trade deadline at the end of July, but those big names probably aren’t going anywhere soon.

Gerrit Cole, for example, could potentially be available but the Pirates aren’t going to deal him while they’re still within shouting distance of the NL Central lead. White Sox closer David Roberston is likely to be dealt, but he’s been so good this season that the Southsiders can afford to wait and let the price for him rise as he records saves and strikeouts and contending teams suffer injuries to the back end of the bullpen. Same thing with A’s ace Sonny Gray, who’s still proving he’s back to his ace form after a rocky 2016.

But you’ll see a couple of important pieces — guys who can make big impacts on the playoff picture, even if they’re not big names — move long before July arrives.

Authentic Womens Zach Line Jersey Let’s look at a few of those players.
Brooks Orpik Game Jersey
Boston’s offense provided him with three separate four-run leads, the last a 10-6 advantage. Sale left the game after a three-up, three-down fifth inning. He struck out nine batters on the night, including four in a row over the first and second innings.

Chicago scored three runs off him in the second after Boston had taken a 4-0 lead. Five consecutive White Sox batters reached on four singles and a walk.

After the Red Sox went ahead 7-3, the White Sox added another run in the third on Tim Anderson’s RBI single. Todd Frazier’s two-run home run in the fourth cut Boston’s lead to 7-6.

Sale’s most efficient inning was his last — a 1-2-3 inning against the bottom of Chicago’s batting order. By that point, he had been backed by a pair of home runs from Deven Marrero, Mookie Betts’ solo shot in the second and Jackie Bradley Jr.’s four RBIs.

NFL Hall of Famer, Seahawk legend Cortez Kennedy passes away at 48

Cortez Kennedy, the 305-pound tackling machine who anchored the Seahawks’ defensive line throughout the 1990s, has passed away. He was just 48 years old.

TMZ Sports broke the news Wednesday morning. Orlando Police confirmed the report and added there was “nothing suspicious” about the NFL veteran’s death.

The Seahawks released a statement on Tuesday about Kennedy’s passing, calling him “the heart and soul of the Seahawks through the 1990s” and “a player who played with a selfless and relentless approach to the game.”

Kennedy was massive in both stature and the impact he had on the league. He started slowly after being selected with the third overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, but needed just two seasons to become a Pro Bowl invitee. His 14-sack 1992, an especially impressive stat for an interior lineman of his carriage, earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. It also marked the first of five All-Pro selections.

Kennedy was also an adviser to the Saints for a time after he retired.

Redskins sign reggae legend Bob Marley’s grandson

This was a good deal for New Orleans to move a talented player who didn’t quite mesh with its spread-it-around passing offense, getting New England’s 2017 first- and third-round draft picks in return. The Saints’ wideout corps remains strong, anchored by Michael Thomas and Willie Snead.

Elite Kids Eric Ebron Jersey Meanwhile, Cooks gives the Patriots another versatile chess piece of speed and quickness with whom to create matchup problems.

Womens Jorge Soler Jersey If music runs in Nico Marley’s blood, it does so along with football.

The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday that they’ve signed Marley, the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley, after a weekend tryout at their rookie minicamp.

Nico’s father, Rohan, played at Miami (Fla.) alongside Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis in the early 1990s before playing in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Rough Riders.

Undersized at 5-foot-8, NIco Marley, 22, played collegiately at Tulane, where he appeared in 49 games and had 319 tackles (200 solo) and 50 1/2 for losses with 6 1/2 sacks and four interceptions. He was a two-time first-team All-AAC selection who led the Green Wave in total tackles with 88 as a senior.

Inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, Bob Marley, according to the Hall, was reggae’s foremost practitioner and emissary, embodying its spirit and spreading its gospel to all corners of the globe.

His story, his fall from grace, is well known. But he insists it isn’t the last chapter, even as he might be looking at the CFL for this upcoming football season. Mauk was not selected in April’s NFL Draft and did not latch on as an undrafted free agent.

All told, this is no way to treat a franchise quarterback.

Authentic Womens Sammy Watkins Jersey
Nelson Agholor Jersey Believe this: The Packers aren’t screwing around with Aaron Rodgers’ health, nor the Steelers with Ben Roethlisberger, and so on, right up to the ultimate franchise centerpiece himself up in Foxborough. Those teams are not going wire-to-wire with those quarterbacks in December games that are barely important, if at all.

For that matter, they probably are not flexing on those quarterbacks about petty team dress codes, either, which may or may not be another story entirely.

Newton is the centerpiece of the Carolina franchise. Seven years in, isn’t it time for the Panthers to start acting like it?

Rose and gambling are synonymous, of course. Baseball’s all-time hit king — he had 4,256 of them in his 24-year career — has been banned from working in the sport since 1989 when then-commissioner Bart Giamatti concluded, based on the Dowd Report, that Rose bet on baseball while manager of the Cincinnati Reds. The ban, as you know, makes him ineligible for the Hall of Fame, too. Rose has appealed the lifetime ban multiple times, and each time he has been denied.

But now that Manfred and baseball’s owners are taking a fresh look at their relationship with gambling, the obvious next step is to finally welcome Rose back into the sport, right?

These are two completely different discussions. Don’t get confused. This has NOTHING to do with Rose. With this news Wednesday, Manfred is addressing a fan issue that, quite honestly, should have been addressed years ago. Better late than never.

Padres’ pitching is weak, but they’re trying to compensate

Jodie Meeks Kids Jersey
In case you missed it, the Padres have basically admitted their rotation isn’t very strong.

San Diego has upwards of 10 candidates for five spots as it begins exhibition play Saturday, but none of them was overly effective last season (see the list below). Manager Andy Green, therefore, is flirting with the idea of limiting starters’ innings during the season and piggybacking a starter and a reliever who might split the first two to three trips through the batting order. Pitchers could also shift between starting and relieving.

Green is trying to sell the notion that the Padres are being forward-thinking, that they want to take advantage of their depth and create better matchups. It sounds more like a way to mask their lack of frontline starters.

As of this writing, the Padres’ main rotation candidates (as listed on MLB.com’s depth chart) are Clayton Richard, Jered Weaver, Jhoulys Chacin, Luis Perdomo, Christian Friedrich, Trevor Cahill, Jarred Cosart and Paul Clemens. Tyrell Jenkins and Erik Johnson also are in the mix. The group’s 2016 stats show how underwhelming these guys are:
Game Mens Ryan Shazier Jersey
On the mound, San Diego’s 4.43 team ERA ranked in the bottom half of the league, and Padres pitchers allowed the fourth-most home runs.

On offense, the bright spot was Wil Myers, who led the team with 28 homers, 94 RBIs and 3.2 wins above replacement (WAR). Among pitchers, Drew Pomeranz was the lone starter with a winning record, 8-7, though he posted a strong 2.47 ERA.

Apart from that? Well …

It was yet another forgettable season in a string of forgettable seasons. It’s what San Diego has come to expect from its baseball team.
